Exploration is very similar to Valkyrie profile 2, 2d with a bit of platforming, i quite enjoyed this aspect. Game looks gorgeous, art style is really unique. Since quite a lot of responses doesn't seem to be favourable I'm gonna give some pros for this game.

In terms of price, I am in my mid 30s and can afford to make some mistakes with my game purchases every now and then. that being the case - this title has certainly scratched my itch enough to finish! Note - that I will not waste my time with a title I am not enjoying! I will straight up stop playing. I have enjoyed my first hours with the game, and will likely make it through the estimated 25 hours needed to complete the main storyline. There are few options out there for folks looking for a classic turn based RPG that looks great and offers some unique gameplay.

I certainly don't think they are 'racist' - just tropey Still, it hasn't been enough that I want to stop playing. Some folks have commented on the 8 characters not being a unit you want to root for - which I can understand. It's not groundbreaking by any means, but serviceable enough that I am sticking with it. I do love the characters I use though (mage, guardian, etc.) Maybe I am not using them correctly, but I can't find situations to fit them in (thief/summoner). Some of the characters never seem to find the battlefield. Some cast members like Dagmar actually sound awesome for example! It is not as 'cringey' as some folks have made it out to be. Items that people complain about that I will offer my opinion on: I tend to read really fast in these games so this is definitely an annoyance for me. This doesn't sound like a big deal but the characters speak SO SLOWLY with extended PAUSES. Maybe it just happens on the Switch? It's too bad as well because the spell animations are awesome!ĭuring cutscenes, you cannot progress the dialogue. Some of the spell animations just don't happen! When you cast an earth spell - you just see a damage value. Expect to do some grinding, which again should be expected for folks looking for a classic experience. Focus points add to the complexity, and the fights offer a nice degree of difficulty. It's a unique twist on turn based combat. It may be overwhelming at first, but I believe most folks looking for an old-school turn-based option will enjoy all these options From the character designs, to weapon looks, to magical attack animations, this is truly a standout in that regardĨ Characters!
